The Story Behind Stonz Booties

Lisa, the founder and owner of Canadian based Stonz Wear Inc has a favourite quote: “There is no such thing as bad weather; only inappropriate clothing.”

As an active mum based on Canada’s wet and rugged West Coast, Lisa discovered that finding warm footwear for her young kids was near impossible. With her five-month old son in a backpack, Lisa resorted to wrapping scarves around her son’s legs to keep him warm. When she met another mum with a boot that looked a lot like a fleece-lined chalk bag (which was made-by-hand for her child), Lisa instantly knew that these booties could fill a need in the market. Together, they created some booties samples - made with a fleece lined inner and a coated nylon exterior. The booties were designed with stylish appliqués, soft soles for a custom fit, and toggles at both the calf and ankle so that they stayed on.

After five years in business, the Stonz team knows that they are meeting a real need. They are constantly delighted to hear from parents and grandparents from all over who are enjoying the booties – just as Stonz intended.
  
Beyond Booties: What's New at Stonz

With the success of their booties, Stonz is now looking beyond and has recently launched additional new products to outfit babies and children:

Larger Size Booties for children 2 to 4 years.

Stonz Linerz provide additional warmth with Sherpa-fleece for inside the booties.

Stonz Mittz feature an “over the arm” design along with 5 layers of warmth for maximum protection and warmth. The toggle system ensures they stay on, just like Stonz booties. Available in sizes newborn to 7 year olds.

Stonz Hatz made with quality fleece in 2 styles - reversible and pointed. Available in sizes up to 5 years.

While the original booties were created out of necessity, the company has grown out of a passion for the products’ ability to help parents connect with their kids in the great outdoors.

With Lisa leading a growing team and closely involved in production at their head office in Vancouver, BC, the company continues to flourish into one of the dominant manufacturers of versatile children’s outdoor gear.

Stonz Wear products are now available to buy in the UK - marketed and sold by Douglas Distribution Ltd, under the trading name Stonz Wear UK.

Yvonne, the Director of Douglas Distribution Ltd, was originally introduced to the Stonz booties in 2007 when the product was recommended to her by her friend in Toronto. Yvonne purchased a pair of booties for her own 1 year old son and was so pleased with the quality of the booties that she gave them as gifts to all of her friends with young kids. The feedback was so positive that Yvonne then got in contact with Stonz in Canada to discuss the distribution rights for the UK. Yvonne is now delighted to be able to offer these high quality outerwear products for babies, toddlers and kids in the UK. The Stonz Wear product range is perfect for the UK weather and offers a really versatile, durable and highly functional solution to the outdoor needs of UK kids.
